Donkey Hide Gelatin

Donkey Hide Gelatin (DHG) is extracted from the dry glue pieces made from the hide of a rare black-skinned donkey found in the remote mountainous region of Eastern China. Called one of the three Ancient Treasures of Chinese Medicine by Li Shizhen in the Compendium of Materia Medical, DHG is obtained after a series of processes surrounding the hide: washing, soaking, plucking, rinsing and stewing. DHG is produced mainly in Shandong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu Provinces.
